It`s been so long!!

Had a bit of a tough time with a lower back disc injury..

Slowly it is getting better . It has meant that postings shows here has been limited.

still African Rhythms will live on and i have some new shows soon to be posted

Last Week  in May, Sofia a friend living in Amsterdam came on the Show ...we played great Soul Music...very inspiring..Sofia was a great addition to the Show

Coming up in June   Pikahsso from Dallas Texas and S-1 from Strange Fruit Project talking bout recent remixes ffor Erykah Badu + Yolanda Johnson + his Debut CD!

 Also 1st week in June, Dennis, leader from the Jazzmanian Devils, will be guesting...he is putting on a benifit for Scott Harding

 the art show is an "end-of-program" celebration that will display the art work of our interns and will exhibit what they've done at their communitiy workplaces called "CAP sites".

Dear Family

Snoop was quite the experiance playing for so many people.it was cool seeing him live from being onstage ha ha

I got a good chance to play some Funk and Soul for i guess 3500 people

it was cool had to get into a groove for real..

It was in a big Farm Field in Chillawack . summer breaks with several other stages

Met some nice people..thanx to Damian

back here in Van City ..... some new Radio shows coming very soon..

....from the last three months including an interview with up and coming soul singer Kenny Wesley . Kenny called in live from Washington D.C.

Summer Breaks - August 2007

Hi Family

doing my 1st festival in August with Snoop and Lil Jon....+ Xecutioners on the main stage . Will be playing on that stage so will be armed with funk bombs!!!
its called Summer Breaks . The other stages have House, Trance, Breaks , Dubstep(its getting big)
Never played for such a big crowd before it must be harder in some ways...
Will drop some tastefull stuff like Fat Freddy`s Drop..
My reedit of The Brother`s - Under the skin that i had Tyler Lewis remix (Its the last track on my latest show) may be getting pressed to Vinyl by a new label!!!
Infinate beats - Ease my troubled mind is a local mix relooping remixing Archie Bell.. also made here in Vancouver by a friend of mine (check the latest Apr 12 2007 show ....I liked it so much i brought them to the Red Bull seminar to encourage there talent.
What can i say pay attention to Van City its starting to become a very creative enviroment..

Dear African Rhythms Friends..

DJ`ing George Clinton was alot of fun. Brought out the heavy funk tracks. It was good to see the P Funk show. Lots of tracks bring back memories for sure.

Please check the Black History Special for 2007 . Cornerstone are a interesting blend of Folk , Blues and Gospel . They perfomed 7 tracks live in the studio which were all quite good... the final track . " Sometimes i feel like a motherless child " It is going to be my #1  track on my playlist this month .

It features the voice of Aura . It is quite amazing.

Also up this week will be the March 14th show featuring some material from the excellent Strange Fruit Project LP -The Healing , Robert Glasper and Joe Bataan

Dear African Rhythms Friends and Family.

Things have been pretty cold here in Vancouver.

Did my first DJ GIg /Track Race at Burnaby Velodrome last week. W/ DJ Claire. It went really well. Stay posted for more Cycling events.

Since the death of the great James Brown i am moved to do a tribute Show . indeed JB has had a profound effect on  the musical direction in my life..Although i am going to wait to really put a great show together..

Coming up in Early March will be DJ`ing, opening up, for George Clinton here in Vancouver @ Plush on Sunday Evening.

Afro gig over once again/ Bobby Taylor interview

Dear Family as the summer comes to a close it certainly was a fruitfull one..

Earlier in July i got to DJ for the UN Youth conference in Vancouver. Socially conscious HIP HOP and Soul , Latin was the order of the day. Met some great Film makers and Artists.

The Bobby Taylor interview was a real challenge and was alot of work! ( post production)

But worth all the effort...hope you enjoy it..

The Coldcut Documentary is going ahead in October ( check my may 15th audio version). Will help Robin ( the Director)  direct and with the sound.

Indeed the Afro Canadian DJ gig has ended ..thanx to all of you that made it down.

Singing unique covers of Tempatation`s and other soul classics, was incredible ..

This month has been quite hectic. Even though my shop will be  closed until the end of June . So i have been on my bike and making more Radio Shows. Also, trying to get lots of rest.
